My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 269 Profound Strike

Mateo may have gotten past that defender but he wasn\'t entirely free as one of the defensive midfielders was trying to intercept him from the right and he was doing a good job of keeping up with the winger so far as he approached him.

The midfielder was a fast one, you could say he was just as fast as Mateo and the winger was aware of that as he was contemplating on whether to shoot from outside the box or not.

\'No, I have to get closer first.\' He said subconsciously as he continued moving toward the goalpost with the defensive midfielder hot on his trail and the other players quickly racing toward the area from way back.

"He\'s not completely in the clear but he can do something here," Jim said.

By the time the winger got to the edge of the box which was the area where he had marked for attempting a shot, the defensive midfielder had already gotten close enough, and before he could take the shot, the midfielder slid toward him and matched his foot to bring him down under a very tough challenge.

"Arghhh!" Mateo screamed as he fell to the floor and quickly clutched onto his right foot which was unfortunately the point of contact.

The midfielder didn\'t care and tried to take the ball and start the counter-attack but the referee wasn\'t going to allow that as he blew his whistle before quickly making his way to the area.

"Mateo\'s down and he seems to be in pain, he is surely getting booked for that."

The referee quickly made his way to the player as he pulled out both of the cards he had in his pocket.

The fans, his teammates, and his coach all knew that a card was coming but they were all praying for it to be just a yellow card but the referee had to shatter their hopes as he raised a red card above him.

"It\'s a straight red card, he\'s been sent off!" Jim exclaimed.

The defensive midfielder tried to argue his case with the referee while Mateo was receiving treatment on the floor, but it didn\'t look like anything was going to move the official, his teammates even joined in to try and talk to the referee but that wasn\'t going to work and in the end, the player had to leave the pitch.

"Black Roz FC are one man down now and Mateo Smith seems to still be in pain on the floor here," Jim said.

"Yeah, but it doesn\'t appear to be a serious case or else he would have been carried off the pitch by now," Steve said.

Two minutes later, the winger was able to get up slowly but he appeared to be limping but even at that, the fans were really glad to see him back up on his feet.

"That tackle could have ended the match for him but it\'s a good thing that he can continue," Jim said.

"Yeah, he\'s been causing a lot of trouble from that left-wing recently, even when he\'s playing as a striker he moves over there a lot. Losing him would affect Unique FC but I\'m not sure it would affect them that much given that Black Roz FC are one man down now." Steve expressed.

Now that Mateo was back on his feet, it was time to take the free kick from the foul which happened right at the edge of the box, there were even contemplations about the foul taking place inside the box as that was where Mateo fell but the referee insisted that it was outside the box just like the linesman said.

Mateo was still trying to get his right foot into the game so there was no way that he would be able to take the free kick but there was nothing to worry about as their second free-kick specialist was on the pitch.

"Looks like Ferran\'s going to be the one to take the free kick as Mateo appears to still be limping," Steve said.

The wall was formed inside the box quickly and once the referee was sure that everything was set, he blew his whistle.

Ferran slowly raised his gaze to look at the goalpost before he slowly took three steps backward.

"This could be their chance to double their lead."

The midfielder quickly closed up on the ball and floated it over all the players toward the top right-hand side of the goalpost.

The midfielder used more of technique and placement in place of his massive shot power this time but he didn\'t place the ball far enough as the goalkeeper did well to get to it and punch it out for a corner kick.

"Oh, what a save!" Jim exclaimed. "Henderson turning up with a magnificent save, I thought that was going in, that was a well-placed free kick from Ferran."

"Yeah, that was unbelievable," Steve commented.

Henderson was hyped up after that save as his teammates quickly rushed to him to shake him, pay him on his shoulder, and hype him up more.

That save was wonderful but now they had a corner kick to deal with and Ferran was standing over the ball to take the kick as the players from both teams ran around inside the box.

The referee blew his whistle as soon as he was sure that everything was okay and without even moving back, Ferran sent the ball flying into the box.

He sent the ball flying a little close to the goalpost and in order to clear the danger in the best way possible, Henderson quickly dived toward the ball and punched it out.

"Henderson stepping up again to clear the danger."

The ball fell to the feet of one of the attacking midfielders who quickly sent the ball flying toward Aveiro Mir to start a counterattack but he seemed to have hit the ball wrongly as it was sent flying a little closer to Adolf.

The center-back got to the ball before the striker and in order to clear the pressure from the striker, he quickly sent the ball rolling back to Dave.

"That\'s a close one, Black Roz almost broke free with a counterattack," Jim said.

Dave didn\'t even wait for the ball to get to his box and moved out of the box to get to the ball instead.

After getting to the ball, he changed its course a little to the right before pushing it a little further.

"Looks like Dave is about to attempt something here."

As soon as he said that, the goalkeeper quickly pulled his leg back and sent the ball flying toward the goalpost, and it was at that moment that Henderson realized that leaving his goal line and heading toward the edge of the box was a big mistake.

The goalkeeper quickly retreated as he kept his gaze on the ball quickly flying toward him, but he wasn\'t able to keep up with it as the ball hit the angle on the left post before falling into the goalpost along with him after his failed attempt to stop it.

"I can\'t believe it, the ball is the net! It\'s a gooooaaaallll!" Jim exclaimed.

Minino couldn\'t hold in his joy as he quickly rushed past Adolf toward the goalkeeper and tackled Jim down.

"Unbelievable!"

"What a profound strike from the goalkeeper, he\'s been trying it with no success and now he\'s gotten it right and in a good time as he has now given his team a two-goal cushion."

The fans were going wild now as they chanted the name of the goalkeeper.
